The term “brainrot” only emerged in mainstream media recently, that is, over the last year or so. However, its message and impact on the impressionable psyches of our younger generations has been bombastic. Some refuse to accept the shifting tides of language, as appears evident across a fair few English classes here at Lowell High School, within College Board essay prompts, and in UC PIQs. However this opinion is veritably CHOPPED and BUNS!!! Ne’re has such a powerful vessel for the emergence of universal slang been made so readily available as the internet, and it is time that we, as a society, young or unc, learn to accept this. The ever-changing, better yet — evolving -– medium that is language, is crucial to communication in a sense that extends past objective understanding and into our innate desire to comprehend perspective and tone. This revelation is an accepted truth amongst all language-speakers. Colloquial tongues build culture, made-up words and inside jokes build friendships, and the neologistical genius known as “brain rot” builds dignified civilization. Should we not harness this tool, at the very least, for the sake of linguistic appreciation? Look forward, towards that tempting song of progress, face the wide open maw of Mr. Beast. Denounce the convention that confines us. Put the fried potato fruits of our ability to react, appreciate, and converse amongst each other in the bag! It is so ragebait to be stripped of speech that has the ability to authentically represent yourself. I think therefore I’m. Fellow students, crewmates, if you acknowledge the importance of brainrot, then listen here: never, ever, shackle your expression to satisfy the ill-fitting expectations of speech that your opps impose upon you. Brahhh.
