Mister Softee ($$)

Garvin Kwong

Mister Softee delivers a variety of ice cream flavors and shakes straight to Lowell’s campus. Each Monday, at around 3 p.m., Mister Softee’s bells can be heard as the ice cream man parks on Eucalyptus in front of campus. With its proximity to Lowell, lines can often be long — especially on hot days — but the wait is worth it. The ice cream is delicious, and it goes even better along with toppings or even a root beer float. If you’re looking to get in before the lines, either rush there straight after school, or wait about 39 minutes.

How to get there: Walk outside Lowell on a Monday during 7th block or after school and look up and down Eucalyptus in front of flagpole (2 minutes)

Shake Shack ($$)

Garvin Kwong

While slightly expensive, Shake Shack’s burgers and milkshakes are the best in town. Shake Shack offers something for everyone, with many wacky options, ranging from the mushroom to spicy burgers. Shake Shack’s crinkle fries are both the right amount of crunchy on the outside yet chewy on the inside, making them some of the best fries in the area; for dipping, the mayo-based, and sweet, sour, yet hot, shack sauce goes well on the side. The shack burgers, while not very large, are tasty and well seasoned, with just the right amount of each ingredient. Their welcoming interior, along with nice staff, will make sure you have a good time just sitting there.
