“I’ve seen protests before, but I’ve never seen students that were so devastated because of a teacher being such a big influence on their lives.”
Friday afternoon, students protested in front of the main office after receiving an email on Thursday night from math teacher Alexander Wilson, informing them that he will not be coming back next year. These students, led by sophomores Sierra Brill and Max Springer, also started a petition, receiving over 250 signatures on paper and over 170 online. Wilson is leaving Lowell due to his expired temporary contract, according to principal Andrew Ishibashi. Wilson reapplied for the job, but a hiring panel decided to choose another qualified teacher.
