The varsity boys’ golf team defeated the Burton Pumas 219–287 on April 18, bringing their total number of wins this season to three out of five games.
Head coach Juan Lopez thinks that Lowell’s team is improving. “Some of the guys are definitely starting to pick up their game a little bit, and they’re starting to score a little bit better,” he said. Lopez attributes the team’s improvement to practice, but said that they do need to improve their “short game,” such as chipping and putting.
The team still has two games left in the regular season, but they’re hoping to get to playoffs. “I’ve got some consistent players,” Lopez said. “I think we have a good chance if we play well as a team.”
The Cardinals’ next game is on April 26 against the Balboa Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Park golf course.
