Cross country dominates competition at league meet

The cross country team raced against the Galileo Lions, Marshall Phoenixes and Mission Bears at Polo Fields on Oct. 18.

In the varsity boys’ 5,000 meter event, senior Mikolaj Krajewski took first place with a time of 16:18. Close behind in second was junior Alexander Parker with a time of 16:28 and sophomore Noah Battaglia with a time of 16:40 in third.

In the varsity girls’ 5,000 meter event, senior Sierra Brill took first place with a time of 18:18. Junior Natalie Ewe finished in second with a time of 19:31 and senior Cynthia Leung with a time of 22:01 in third.

Sophomore Beck Johnstone took first place in the frosh-soph boys’ 5,000 meters with a time of 18:40. Sophomore Sophia Riordan took first place in the frosh-soph girls’ 5,000 meters with a time of 22:47.

Overall, the cross country team placed first with a score of 15.
The Galileo Lions followed with a score of 49 and the Academy Wolves with a score of 79.

The team’s next league meet is tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park against the Wallenberg Bulldogs and the SFI Jaguars.
