In this issue, the featured editorial cartoon depicts the confusion among students about the school’s cell phone policy. In order to clarify any misconceptions, the staff looked into the policy. We talked to several Lowell security guards and administrators. Some of them referred to the San Francisco Unified School District’s Student Handbook and Lowell’s Campus Rules. After reading over the rules in both texts, we cleared up the confusion over cell phone-use at school. During class time, 7:35 a.m.-3:30 p.m., phones must remain turned off while students are on campus. An exception for phones to be on is when students have the teacher’s permission, according to dean Ivan Yee.
